Gamers Have To Be Mentally Strong...

But What About Physical Abilities?

Gaming takes a lot of mental strength and stamina. Coming back when the odds are stacked against you in battle royale games like Fortnite or building and maintaining an entire city throughout a worldwide volcanic winter such as in Frostpunk requires you to be mentally sharp in preparation for whatever happens next. But what about physical strength? Have you ever wondered which console gamers are the strongest in terms of physical strength and fitness levels? Well, we have.

The team at Buzz Bingo have conducted a survey that analyses six types of gamers and their physical strengths, interests, and weaknesses to find out which gamer is the strongest. These are the results.

Who Goes to The Gym the Most?

With the creators of the PlayStation still revelling in the success of the PS5 today, it comes as no surprise that the console’s gamers top the list by a mile with 44.8% of them visiting the gym between to five times a week compared to the 25% of PS gamers that admitted they never go to the gym.

The long-standing battle between PlayStation and Xbox continues as Xbox gamers come in second place with 28.1%. In third place are mobile gamers with a measly 9.6% when compared to the 22.33% of mobile gamers that admitted they never attend the gym. Maybe the burden of holding their phone doesn’t require that much strength after all.

Who Are the Strongest Gamers?

Now that we know which type of gamers attend the gym the most - the real question is who are the strongest gamers? PlayStation gamers dominate with the pull up taking a massive 58.33%, followed by the push up with 51.56%. However, although the plank (43.84%) and the sit up (43.77%) require plenty of concentration and determination, much like console games, they still sat at the bottom of the table for PS gamers.

Other gamers are part of the strongest gamers club, including Xbox gamers, PC and mobile gamers. The bench press (28.76%) and the plank (28.08%) top the list for the most popular exercises among Xbox players, whilst the pull up was the weakest link with 13.33%. Among PC gamers, pull up (11.67%) and deadlift (11.52%) took the lead whilst showing a clear dislike for push ups (7.56%). Sit ups were most popular amongst mobile gamers with 12.16% and deadlifts were the least popular with 7.60% (with a name like that, it's no surprise).

The not so strong gamers included Nintendo switch (9.73%) and other gamers (1.82%) with the sit up being the most popular exercise across both categories. However, Nintendo Switch gamers expressed their dislike for the bench press (3.37%). When it comes to other gamers - let’s just say the pull up wasn’t much of a favourite with a measly 0.0%. Talk about an anti-climax!

Who Are the Weakest Gamers?

Now that we know that the pull up, push up and sit up are among the most popular exercises for the strongest gamers. Let’s take a closer look at the gamers who probably wouldn’t make it when it comes to the survival of the fittest.

Going to the gym does not just mean taking mirror selfies, right? Well, let’s just say certain gamers didn’t get the memo. Mobile gamers admitted that the sit up was their nemesis with 28.97% followed closely by push up (26.79%) and plank (25.23%). For other gamers, the bench press was the least favourite with 5.62%. Although the push up and pull up were favourites among the PlayStation gamers, this definitely wasn’t the case for Nintendo Switch gamers, with 16.07% and 16.18%, respectively.

The plank was the least popular exercise for both PC and Xbox players, the former with 15.32% admitting that the plank just wasn’t a match for them and the latter with 22.52%, followed by the pull up with 21.18%. However, Xbox gamers were able to withstand the push up a little more with 16.07%. Interestingly, PlayStation gamers aren’t too fond of squats (28.46%) or the deadlift (27.69%) - maybe they should stick with their strengths.

Gaming Frequency and Hobbies

Believe it or not, some gamers play every day (let’s just say they are dedicated to the cause). It may come as no surprise that the most committed gamers are of the PlayStation kind. PlayStation (35.9%) and Xbox (26.8%) gamers are the ultimate tag team with over 60% of their gamers playing every day. Mobile gamers come in third place with 17.61%.

Ever wondered what gamers like to do in their spare time (except gaming of course)? PlayStation gamers dominate with a range from 38%–44% who partake in a hobby, the most popular ones being cycling (44%), swimming (43%) and playing a musical instrument (42%). Much like PlayStation gamers, Cycling was also a highly favoured hobby among Xbox gamers topping the list with 28%, though reading (23%) and hiking (24%) were of less interest.

For Nintendo Switch gamers, swimming, reading, watching films, listening to music, all topped the list with 10%. The latter two hobbies are also tied for PC gamers with 11% and Xbox gamers with 25%. The most popular hobby for PC gamers was playing a musical instrument (14%) and swimming was on the other end of the spectrum as the least popular hobby with 9%. Unlike many other gamers, watching films and reading topped the list with 14% apiece for mobile gamers.

Exercises Outside of The Gym

Not all exercises happen in the gym - shocking, we know. Research showed that the high-achieving gamers walk an average of 5k-10k steps a day, and include PlayStation (43.6%), Xbox (23.6%) and mobile (12.9%) gamers. It is also worthy to note that 54.3% of female gamers spend more time than male gamers (45.5%) walking than on their consoles.

Now when it comes to doing the bare minimum, PlayStation (31.2%), Xbox (22.9%) and mobile (19.4%) top the list again for completing 0-1k steps a day, other gamers (1.4%) remain at the bottom. 55.2% of female gamers achieved 0-1k steps a day compared to the male gamers with 44.8%.

When it comes to the gamers that cannot run a 10k, PlayStation (29.8%) and Xbox (24.7%) gamers admitted they weren’t exactly track stars. Closer to the bottom were Nintendo switch (11.8%) gamers. Though female gamers enjoy walking, running isn’t exactly their strongest suit as 57.3% of female gamers admitted they cannot run a 10k, as did 42.7% of male gamers.
